Current Projects

THE CAFE SOUNDS! (ongoing from 2008) is a project to develop an archive of ambient soundscapes of cafés in the East End of London, set against a backdrop of urban regeneration and pervasive cappuccino culture (that threatens to silence the traditional 'greasy spoon'). The sound artist/composer John Drever has been commissioned to begin the process with some initial recordings, and recently the photographer Olivia Hemingway was commissioned to add location shots. We are currently developing a website so that others can contribute their recordings too, hosted by the Digital Urban Living Research Centre, Aarhus University, Denmark.
